Fall 2007 Newsletter

Well it’s been quite a year and we are planning lots of new things for the new year ahead. Our fly tying classes have been going strong all year. We started the year with large groups attending and sometimes it was a little too hectic. Visit us on Thursday nights from 6PM till 8 PM. Just try to remember “T For Tying” and join us for a great night of tying. On Thursday nights we will still run our class as we always have. Our list of patterns will cover a wide range of patterns, some easy and some more challenging to keep everyone progressing. It’s still going to be a show up class so just check out our web site for the pattern of the week and come on over for a good time.

It’s been a very busy year for me. I worked on many volunteer events and projects that kept me running all over the state. I worked with the Lamprey River Elementary School in Raymond and fellow Trout Unlimited members to help the students with the Adopt A Salmon program. Two fourth grade classes hatched salmon eggs in the class and we stocked the fry in June. The kids had a blast with this project and learned a great deal about the importance of cold clean water to keep our fish populations healthy and ongoing for future generations. I spent a day teaching Boy Scouts the fine art of fly-casting at a Jamboree at Camp Storer in Barnstead NH. It was fun to work with the kids and I’m sure we will have some new fly fishers joining us on the water soon. Last fall I helped the Great Bay TU chapter and we fished with a group of women from the Casting For Recovery organization on the Lamprey River in Durham NH. All the ladies had a great time and many caught fish. I joined the Merrimack TU chapter with their fly fishing students for a morning of casting instruction at Lake Massabesic in Manchester. I spent two days with Great Bay TU chapter fishing and instructing for New Hampshire’s first “Trout Camp” in Pittsburg NH. Six teenage boys were introduced to fly-fishing and fly tying. We ran two fly fishing clinics for women in June and September. Sixteen women participated in the clinics and they are on their way to fly fishing adventure.

Thank you for visiting my shop. I know it’s a lot easier to shop with that plastic mouse and it’s a great compliment to me when you visit. I hope to always make it worth the trip.

Enjoy The Adventure, Tom
